Delta Air Lines is rolling out new amenity kits across all its cabins that it claims are ‘environmentally friendly’ – and we’ve ‘unboxed’ them.
Business class (‘Delta One’) and premium economy (‘Delta Premium Select’) customers get bags made by high-end luggage-maker Tumi, while those in Delta’s two cheaper economy cabins – ‘Main Cabin’ and ‘Comfort+’ – get kits made from packaging sourced from customer photos.
The Delta One bags will feature products by New York-based artisanal fragrance brand Le Labo for the first time – a ‘hand pomade’ and lip balm that are both shea-butter-based.

There is also a Tumi sleep mask, unbranded hand cleanser, socks, mouthwash, a pen, toothpaste and a toothbrush made from ‘eco-friendly bamboo’, though Delta’s statement about the bags doesn’t explain why bamboo is eco-friendly.
‘Delta and Le Labo share a passion for connecting people and places through personalized experiences,’ said Ekrem Dimbiloglu, Delta’s Director – Onboard Product and Customer Experience.
‘That passion, along with Le Labo’s dedication to the highest standards of quality, make it a natural choice in our efforts to create delightful moments throughout the travel experience for our customers.’

The Premium Select bag is slightly smaller and contains a new ‘cleansing towelette’, which Delta says is ‘one of the top items requested by customers’.
There is also Malin + Goetz lip moisturiser, a sleep mask, socks and a plastic toothbrush.
The socks, says Delta, will provide passengers with a better fit, and both Tumi Bags have been improved, ‘with higher quality materials, making it a great travel keepsake’.
The eco credentials of the Tumi bags, meanwhile, have been further enhanced by the removal of the plastic wrappers, which Delta says diverts almost 14 tonnes of plastic from landfills in one year.

The customer-photo packaging on these kits is really rather neat.
