Need ideas for a fall trip, vacation, or getaway?

Take advantage of the months of September, October, and November to go away for a few days, now that it is low season and the hordes of tourists have already returned home.

Nothing better than a getaway or a trip in autumn, no matter how short, to disconnect and recharge your batteries. If you need travel inspiration and still don’t know where to go in the autumn months, we recommend a few destinations.

Take a look, choose yours, and go on vacation in the fall.

Romania

Romania is still hidden in tourist itineraries, it is the great unknown of the European Union, which is in my opinion one of the main advantages.

We are still in a country that has not been much modified by tourism beyond its castle of Dracula, but with infrastructures that have improved a lot in recent times.

Prices are still really low in terms of transport, food or accommodation and the country offers many things to see and do such as traversing the Carpathian mountains, knowing its variety of landscapes and cultures, castles, monasteries and medieval towns, as well as enjoying of the lively nightlife and its gastronomy.

In autumn, Romania is dyed ocher and reddish… Don’t miss it!

Colmar, Alsace, France

The city of Colmar, surrounded by a skyline drawn by rows of vineyards, is perfect in autumn because it allows you to enjoy its traditions and gastronomy sheltered by evocative renaissance and gothic maisons.

Despite the cool weather, you will want to get lost in the narrow streets of the historic center full of typical German houses painted in colors and exposed wooden beams, which give it the appearance of a “fairytale village”.

Two unavoidable plans are the boat trip through “Little Venice”, with its Alsatian houses lined up along the canals, and a particularly suggestive and bucolic night walk when the streets and facades are illuminated with colored lights.

And if the cold is pressing, it is best to look for warmth in one of its bars to taste the wine specialties of the region.

Emilia Romagna, Italy

For a vacation in autumn, I would recommend traveling to the Emilia Romagna area, since it is a very good time because the great avalanche of tourists has already left and the region has numerous places declared World Heritage Sites, small charming towns, sea and mountain, and gastronomy to lick your fingers.

Also, if you are not very cold, you can even take a swim on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. Surely you want to repeat it!

Natural Parks, United States

Fall is my favorite season of the year and for that reason, given some of the best places to see fall in the world, frankly, of all the places I have visited, without a doubt, I would choose the United States National Parks Joined.

Places like Vermont, Colorado, Portland, the sequoia forests under an orange blanket…

Seriously, you can’t miss them!

La Garrotxa, Catalonia

Our recommendation to travel in autumn is the region of Girona, La Garrotxa.

In this area, there are very beautiful landscapes such as those found in the Vall d’en Bas, the volcanic area, the basaltic cliff of Castellfollit de la Roca, or the beautiful medieval town of Besalú.

But what makes it an autumn destination for us is La Fageda d’en Jordà. In autumn, walking through this beech forest with its shades of yellow, orange, and brown is spectacular.

London, United Kingdom

There are cities to which there is always more than one excuse to return, one of them is London. The capital of the United Kingdom is exuberant at any time of the year, but especially in autumn, its parks shine in an almost magical way.

The green lungs of the great British metropolis are dyed sepia with a thick blanket of dry leaves that give it a totally autumnal atmosphere.

Strolling through Hyde Park or through the beautiful Japanese garden of Holland Park are two essentials that we should not miss on a visit to London in autumn.

Finland

Our trip to Lapland was not in the fall, but we are looking forward to returning to these latitudes in the fall. At this time of year, Lapland dresses in brown, yellow, orange, and even reddish colors.

The temperature is still pleasant to spend hours outdoors enjoying its hundreds of lakes and, in addition, it is one of the times of the year where there are more chances to see the northern lights.

New York

There are cities that change and transform in autumn, especially if their heart is home to as much life as a park-like Central Park. Reds and oranges transform this forest into a park. A true spectacle.

Tuscany
